DukeCard FAQ

Do I need identification to receive my DukeCard?

Yes, you must present a valid government-issued picture ID to receive your DukeCard.

Can I have someone else pick up my card?

No, your DukeCard is your responsibility. You will have to show identification and sign for the card when you pick it up.

What should I do if my DukeCard or mobile device is lost or stolen?

IMMEDIATELY go to eAccounts to deactivate your card or mobile device or contact the DukeCard Office. You can call also contact the DukeCard Office to reactivate your DukeCard or mobile device but you must set up challenge/response questions and answers to use this option. You are responsible for all unauthorized charges.  

Is there a fee to replace a lost or stolen card?

Yes. All DukeCard holders are charged a fee if their DukeCard is lost or stolen.

I found my deactivated card but now it won't work.

Log into eAccounts to reactivate your DukeCard or mobile device. You can call the DukeCard Office to reactivate your DukeCard or mobile device but you must set up challenge/response questions and answers to use this option.  If you do not have challenge/response questions and answers set, visit oit.duke.edu/selfservice to create your questions and answers.  If you can't set up challenge/resposne questions and answers, you will need to bring your current deactivated card to the DukeCard Office to reactivate it.  

Can I reactivate my card over the phone?

Yes. If you have set up challenge/response questions and answers you can call the DukeCard Office to reactivate your card.  More information on challenge/response questions and answers is available here.  

What should I do if my DukeCard isn't working?

Bring your card to the DukeCard Office so we can evaluate and resolve the problem.
