Duke students may request a Duke Voter ID card which will be accepted as a means of photo identification for voting in North Carolina beginning with the 2023 municipal elections. Visit Duke Votes and click on the Duke Voter ID card survey link under the Duke Student Voter ID Card section to request a card. You will be notified when your Duke Voter ID card is ready and available for pickup at one of the designated card pickup events on campus. Frequently Asked Questions

Go to the Duke Student Voter ID Card page, then click on the survey link to request a Duke Voter ID card.  You will need to enter your Duke email and Duke Unique ID number.

You do not need to submit a new photo for your Duke Voter ID card.  Your Duke Voter ID card will display the same picture used on your DukeCard.  You must have a photo in the DukeCard system to obtain a Duke Voter ID card.

Duke Voter ID cards will be available for pickup at the following pickup events:

  • Fill out the card request form by September 12, 2023 to pick up your card on September 19th (BC Plaza from 10am-2pm) or September 20th (East Campus Marketplace from 4pm-7pm)
  • Fill out the card request form by September 28, 2023 to pick up your card on October 5th (BC Plaza from 1pm-5pm)
  • Fill out the card request form by October 11, 2023 to pick up your card on October 18th (BC Plaza from 10am-2pm) or October 19th (East Campus Marketplace from 4pm-7pm)
  • Fill out the card request form by October 23, 2023 to pick up your card on October 30th (BC Plaza from 1pm-5pm)

Additional card pickup opportunities may be available this fall and will be communicated to card requesters via email.

No.  You will need to complete the Duke Votes survey before a Duke Voter ID card can be created for you.

You must bring your drivers license or be able to show your Mobile DukeCard credential on your smart phone to prove your identity for card pickup.

Yes.  Your Duke Voter ID expires five years (60 months) from the date the card was printed.

No.  The Duke Voter ID is not a replacement for your DukeCard.  The Duke Voter ID does not provide any access to campus facilities or services.  It is not to be used for identification except as Duke-issued voter identification.
