Security Issues
The DukeCard system was developed with the purpose of providing you with the account and access security you need on campus. Each cardholder must help maintain the integrity of the system by immediately reporting lost cards and notifying Campus Police or The DukeCard Office if they witness the propping of doors, abuse of card readers, or unauthorized use of a person's DukeCard.
Lost Cards
Lost DukeCards should be reported IMMEDIATELY to the DukeCard Office at 684-5800. The University office is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The Medical Center offcie is open 7:30 am - 5:00 pm M-F. Your card can be deactivated instantly, blocking the unauthorized use of your accounts or access features. You can also suspend your card in the "Additional Services" section of our Online Card Office. Replacement cards can be issued from the DukeCard Office at any time. A new card can be produced in minutes and will have the same account and access features as your original card (note: there is a two (2) hour delay for ePrint functionality upon card replacement). A lost card does not mean lost money, if it is reported promptly. There is a fee to replace a lost DukeCard.
Temporary Cards give you time to locate a missing DukeCard. These cards provide access to all of your DukeCard accounts (except ePrint) and access functions for up to two business days (excluding food delivered from off-campus merchants). Temporary cards must be returned to the DukeCard Office when your DukeCard is located or replaced. There is a fee if a temporary card is not returned.
Account Statements
Each cardholder who has a Dining or Flexible Spending Account will receive a monthly detailed account statement showing the beginning and ending account balance and an itemized list of all transactions for the period. You may view your account statement online by logging into the Online Card Office.
You can also support the Duke Greening Initiative by selecting to discontinue receiving your paper account statement.
Problem Resolution
If you believe that your account was improperly charged, take a copy of your sales receipt or account statement to the location at which the transaction occurred. For other account problems or questions, contact the DukeCard Office.
