Every residence hall on campus is equipped with a DukeCard access reader. Students use their DukeCards to gain entry to their residence hall 24 hours a day.

Academic Buildings
Most of the major buildings on campus are equipped with DukeCard access readers. These buildings are typically unlocked during the business day and are accessible after hours only with a valid DukeCard.

Recreational Facilities
Upon payment of a fee, students, employees, faculty and staff may use their DukeCard to access the East and West campus gymnasiums, tennis courts and other recreational facilities.

Athletic Events
The DukeCard allows students to access most athletic events. Rather than issuing tickets, the DukeCard is used to determine eligibility to attend athletic events such as basketball and football games on campus.
